Disabilities Mentoring Day (DMD) is an internationally recognized day that facilitates the pairing of job-ready persons with disabilities with companies that utilize the skills they have or are developing through training. The mentees gain insight from practicing professionals around job requirements, jobs duties and tasks and where mentee skill sets are a best fit. Developed as a partnership with the Workforce Planning Board of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin, it continues to grow steadily since its inception in 2011.
Quinte area employers are experiencing difficulty filling positions and Persons with Disabilities are an untapped labour pool locally. Working in partnership with Dolphin Digital Technologies as the lead for this initiative, CFWD will provide support and resources to ensure a successful event. This will include providing employer connections, employment service provider connections, promotion of the event locally, a mentor/mentee meet and greet breakfast and logistics support on the day of. Dolphin will be provide mentor/mentee matching for the day, promote the day locally and do a follow-up with both the mentor and mentees.
